Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 11, 2026
This policy explains what information Clara collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it in plain language and describe how the service actually works today.
1. Introduction
Clara is a workplace English assistant created by Workplace English Lab (“Clara,” “we,” “us”). This Privacy Policy applies to the Clara service at app.workplaceenglishlab.com. By using Clara, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Information we collect
- Account and sign-in. Sign-in is passwordless, using Google or an email magic link. We store your email address and an account identifier. We do not store passwords.
- Profile and subscription. Your plan (free or Pro), your monthly usage count, your billing period dates, and the customer and subscription identifiers from our payment provider that link your account to your subscription.
- Your messages and drafts. When you are signed in and generate a response, the situation or draft you enter, the recipient and format you choose, and the responses Clara produces are stored so you can see them in your history.
- Feedback. If you rate a response with thumbs up or down, we store that rating alongside the related response.
- Anonymous demo. If you try Clara without an account, your message is sent to our AI provider to produce a response, but it is not saved in our database.
- Technical data. Limited data used to keep you signed in, enforce usage limits, and protect the service — see Cookies and technical data below.
3. How we use information
- To provide the service — generate responses, show your history, and manage your plan and usage.
- To operate, secure, debug, and improve Clara, including reviewing feedback and stored responses to improve quality.
- To manage subscriptions and process payments through our payment provider.
- To prevent abuse and enforce usage limits.
- To respond to your support requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
4. AI processing
Clara uses a third-party AI provider to generate responses. The text you submit is sent to that provider to produce your response. Clara currently uses Google's Gemini API as its AI provider. We may change or add AI providers over time. Providers process your input under their own terms.
5. Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run Clara:
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting and delivery.
- Google — AI processing via the Gemini API.
- Lemon Squeezy — payments and subscription management.
These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the service, and they may process it in other countries.
6. Payments
Payments and subscriptions are handled by Lemon Squeezy, which acts as the merchant of record. When you subscribe, your payment-card details are entered on Lemon Squeezy and are processed by Lemon Squeezy and its payment processors. Clara does not receive or store your full card number. We store your subscription status, billing period dates, and the customer and subscription identifiers Lemon Squeezy provides so we can manage your plan.
